Cyber threats could soon become more damaging than natural disasters. How can you effectively defend against incidents that could jeopardize both sensitive data and your company's infrastructure?
In a recent [Czech-language] episode of the Forbes BrandVoice podcast, two experts highlighted the critical importance of cybersecurity for businesses. The discussion featured Martin Švéda, Head of the Private Sector Regulatory Division at the National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB), and Robert Šefr, CTO of Whalebone, a Brno-based technology company specializing in advanced cybersecurity systems for businesses.

Companies like Whalebone are at the forefront of this dynamic industry, protecting data and infrastructure worldwide. Whalebone has established itself as a key player, providing secure internet connectivity for hundreds of telecommunications companies and enterprises.
"Many companies still underestimate cyber risks," says Robert Šefr, CTO of Whalebone. Whalebone leads the ambitious European DNS4EU project from Brno, which is to provide a secure and privacy-compliant system for nearly 100 million Europeans.
"However, we also encounter companies that, out of fear, take excessive measures, which can be counterproductive," Šefr warns. The amended Cybersecurity Act, based on the European NIS2 directive, aims to facilitate the implementation of balanced and effective measures.
"The new legislation will introduce obligations not only for large corporations but also for a wide range of entities that have not been subject to regulation before," explains Martin Švéda of NÚKIB. This key institution, based in Brno, is coordinating efforts to raise awareness and implement the new legislation in the Czech Republic.
This topic will also be a focus at the upcoming tenth edition of CyberCon in Brno, a leading Czech conference where public, academic, and private sectors unite to address challenges in cyber and information security. Lectures from the event will be recorded to allow for a later viewing.
